Dr. Musa Dauda Bassi is a distinguished library and information science professional with a career spanning over three decades. Born on April 25, 1965, in Gombi Local Government Area of Adamawa State, Dr. Bassi has dedicated his life to the advancement of academic libraries in Nigeria.

Professional Experience
Dr. Bassi began his career as a Library Assistant in 1985 at Modibbo Adama College, University of Maiduguri, Yola. Over the years, he has held various positions, including:
Library Officer I at Federal University of Technology, Yola (2005–2007)
Graduate Librarian (2007–2010)
Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Library and Information Science (2012)
Senior Lecturer at Modibbo Adama University, Yola (2020–Present)
His extensive experience in both library operations and academic teaching has equipped him with a unique perspective on the evolving needs of university libraries.
Appointment as University Librarian
Recognizing his vast experience and contributions to the field, Dr. Bassi was appointed as the University Librarian of Adamawa State University, Mubi, on March 1, 2022, by the University Visitor, His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Adamawa State, Rt. Hon. Umaru Ahmadu Fintiri, through the University Governing Council led by Hon. Awwal D. Tukur.
Roles and Responsibilities
As the University Librarian, Dr. Bassi is responsible for:
Strategic Leadership: Developing and implementing policies that align the library’s services with the university’s academic objectives.
Resource Management: Overseeing the acquisition, organization, and maintenance of library resources, both physical and digital.
Information Literacy: Promoting programs that enhance students’ and faculty’s ability to locate, evaluate, and use information effectively.
Technological Integration: Implementing modern technologies to improve access to information and streamline library operations.
Staff Development: Leading a team of professional librarians and support staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
Collaboration and Outreach: Establishing partnerships with other academic libraries and information networks to expand resource sharing and collaborative initiatives.
