As the Vice Chancellor, I am deeply honored to serve and lead this institution at a time when education must rise to meet the demands of a rapidly changing world. At ADSU, we are committed to providing an enabling environment where young minds are nurtured, potentials are unlocked, and leaders are shaped for the global stage.

Biography
Prof. Augustine was born on 4th June, 1959, in Gulak, Adamawa State. A native of Madagali Local Government Area, he is a distinguished academic, administrator, and community developer.
His educational journey reflects a lifelong commitment to excellence. He attended Kaya Primary School, Gulak (1969-1975), Teachers’ College, Mubi (1975-1980), obtained his NCE from College of Education, Jalingo (1984), and pursued higher education at the University of Maiduguri, earning a B.A.Ed. in English Language (1991) and M.A. in English Language (2005).
He later earned a Ph.D. in English for Specific Purposes from Modibbo Adama University of Technology (now Modibbo Adama University), Yola, in 2016.
Dr. Lagu is happily married and blessed with children.
Career Highlights
Augustine Clement is a Professor of Animal Science with specialization in Monogastric Animal Nutrition. He held leadership positions such as Head of Department, Director, Senate Representative to Council, Chairman of several Committees which derived various initiatives that contributed to the progress and development of Adamawa State University, Mubi.
In recognition of his meritorious service and leadership excellence, he was appointed Vice Chancellor of Adamawa State University by the Visitor to the University, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, Governor of Adamawa State, effective 5th February 2025.
Community Service
Beyond the university, Prof. Augustine has remained a pillar of community development through:
Voluntary English Language extra mural classes
Master Trainer roles for teacher development programs organized by international agencies (IRC, GIZ)
Numerous mentorship and leadership initiatives aimed at uplifting the youth and academic community
Research and Publications
Prof. Augustine has made remarkable contributions toward research and has won several research grants from the Tertiary Education Trust fund of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. As a seasoned academician, he conducted extensive research in the field of animal science especially in monogastric animal nutrition and published over 100 articles in reputable referred Journals and conference proceedings. Furthermore, he has served as a valuable reviewer to some foreign Universities and International Journal publishers.His research continues to inspire academic discourse and practical applications in education, communication, and development sectors.
